Memory Verse
“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” I John 1:7
If we walk in the light, what will we be doing?
“If we walk in the light, as he is in the light,
we have ________________ one with another.”
What is it that cleanses from sin?
“The ________________ of Jesus Christ his Son
cleanseth us from all sin.”
Of which sins does the blood of Christ cleanse us?
“The blood of Jesus Christ…cleanseth us from ____ sin.”
Memory Verse
“And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.” I John 1:4
Why did God inspire John to write these things?
“These things write we unto you, that your __ may be full.”
The context reveals the formula of the things that were written to bring us full joy. Verse 3 tells us that we must have fellowship with God the father, God the Son, and other Christians. If we break off fellowship with other believers, we lose our fellowship with God, and our potential to have full joy. Verse 6 says we cannot walk in darkness if we want to have fellowship with Him and have full joy. In verses 8-9 God tells us that the solution to broken fellowship is to confess our sins to God and the person against whom we have sinned to receive forgiveness (contrast James 5:16).
Memory Verse
“In him was life; and the life was the light of men.”
John 1:4
What is the light of men in this verse?
“In him was life; and the ________ was the light of men.”
“The light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” John 1:5
Why would a person not receive eternal life offered here?
“The darkness ___________________ it ____________.”
Some lost people cannot understand the plan of salvation or even the existence of God. Man’s wickedness has corrupted the world causing sickness, wars, death, and misery; and, rather than admit that man is responsible for all the misery on earth, or that their own sin is what is the cause of their own misery, they blame God. Then they punish Him by refusing to believe in Him. They fear that the solution to their own unhappiness is for them to forsake their lifestyle and turn from sin. They cannot comprehend that this is impossible for a lost person to do.
“That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.” John 1:9
What people have had the light revealed to them.?
“The true Light, which lighteth ______________ man.”
Nature declares the glory of God, so mankind is without excuse (Romans 1:19-22).
“He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” John 1:10-12
God says that all a person must do to receive Him is to believe on His name (Jesus).

Memory Verse
“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” John 3:19
What causes men to be condemned?
“This is the condemnation, that light is come into the
world, and men _______ ___________ rather than light.”
Why do men choose darkness rather than light?
“Because their deeds were _______________.”
Notice that it was not that mankind did not have the truth revealed to them (light is come into the world), but some people choose darkness rather than light.
How do men feel about the darkness?
“Men _______________ darkness rather than light.”
Memory Verse
“For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.” John 3:20
How many evil doers actually hate the light?
“ ____________ ________that doeth evil hateth the light.”
Why will evil doers not come to the light?
“Lest his deeds should be _________________ .”
Will evil doers come to the light?
“Doeth evil hateth the light, ________ cometh to the light.”
Memory Verse
“But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.” John 3:21
When a person comes to the light, who does the work?
“They are wrought (worked) in ______________ .”
Who comes to the light?
“He that ___________ __________ cometh to the light.”
What happens to the person’s deeds who comes to the light?
“His deeds may be made _______________ .”
When a person refuses to come to Christ, he denies the truth. His fear is that his work will be reproved, not realizing that Christ has already done the work needed to get to heaven by paying for all sin by His death.
Memory Verse
“If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth.” I John 1:6
If we say that we are in fellowship with God and walk in darkness, what does God say about us?
“If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we_____________ .”
What is the characteristic of a Christian who is out of fellowship with God?
“If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, _____ _______ .”
So a person who lies is walking in darkness and is out of fellowship with God.
