Back Story
Shortly after Joseph was sold to Potiphar, Potiphar made Joseph head over all his things. Then while Joseph was in prison, he was made head over all the prisoners. Finally, after Pharaoh released him, Pharaoh made him second in command over all Egypt. I would say that Jospeh was especially blessed by God, wouldn’t you? The question is: “Why?”
If we could just figure out what it is that God requires of us to bless us and promote us, then we could be blessed by God just as Joseph was.
Questions
What does God require of His servants?
What positions does God have for His faithful servants?
Memory Verse
“And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.” Revelation 5:10
Explanation
Have you ever wondered what you will be doing in heaven for all eternity? God promises us: “We have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.”
However, this is not the only reward God has for His faithful servants. In Revelation 5:10 God promises us that are faithful that they will also be “Kings and priests and will reign on the earth.” According to Revelation 20:6, this will take place during the thousand year Kingdom reign of Jesus Christ on Earth.
Moreover, that is not the last of it. After the Great White Throne judgment, when all who persisted in depending on their own good works to enter eternal life are judged by their works, they will all be cast into the Lake of Fire. The reason for this is because no human can be good enough or work hard enough to earn eternal life. All must trust Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection as their only and complete hope of obtaining eternal life.
After that the heavens and Earth will pass away, and we will enter eternity. There is where there is the New Jerusalem the New heaven, and the New earth. Then the kings of the earth will continue to reign.” The nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it (the New Jerusalm): And the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it,” Revelation 21:24.
Salvation is completely free. All we have to do is trust what Jesus did to get us to heaven. However, the privilege of serving God as a king throughout eternity is promised to faithful believers. When we appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ we will receive what we have earned whether it be good or bad: “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”
For those who are faithful there will be great reward, but for those believers who are unfaithful there will be “weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
