Backstory
My father was born on February 22. So, naturally, my grandparents named him George. That makes me his son. So I am a son. I have four children, now, myself. That makes me a father. Wait a minute! I am a son. I can’t be a father, too, can I? A father and a son are two completely different things. Nevertheless, I am both a father and a son indeed, and, yet I am only one person.
That is the way it is with God the Father and God the Son. God manifests Himself both ways. Each has very different characteristics, yet He is only one person.
Questions
Is Jesus and God the Father the same person?
If Jesus is God the Son, and His Father is God, too, how is that not two Gods?
Memory Verse
“And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.” Revelation 1:6
Now, there is an interesting yet definitive statement!
Explanation
There are cults today that teach that Jesus, the Son of God, is not God. They teach that He is only “a god…and He is a false god at that.” Let me state that there is only one true God, and the rest, which some claim to be god, are false gods. To claim that Jesus is not God the Father is blasphemy. In this verse we see that the one true God has a Father. The One who has made us kings and priests is the Son of God. But He is also God. That is why He said in John 10:30: “I and My Father are One.” So, Jesus, who is God, is the Son of God the Father.”
Not only does God reveal Jesus’ own deity in this verse, He reveals His plan for us. He has made us kings and priests. We find out in Revelation 20:6 that this will take place during the One thousand year Kingdom reign of Jesus Christ.
Have you ever wondered what you will do during the millennium? According to Jesus’ teachings during His time on Earth, He points out that only those who are faithful during this short time on the Earth will receive kingdoms during the millennium. Faithful with what? Faithful with the gospel. Faithful to whom? God’s first instruction to man was to be fruitful and multiply by bearing children, and raising them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
His second instruction involved being faithful to our spouse by “magnifying the Lord together,” because we are “heirs together of the grace of Christ.”
So being a ruler and a priest go hand in hand.
Zechariah 13:4-5 indicates that the people who come out of the tribulation with their natural bodies will not be prone to become prophets or priests. However, for a thousand years they and their descendants will bear children. So, who is going to lead those children to the Lord? That just may be the privilege of those who are faithful during our natural life on Earth, now.
